Huda Beauty Matcha Milk Easy Bake

When brand founder Huda Kattan first teased new Easy Bake shades, that wasn’t all. She tried out blueberry muffin and red velvet versions on social media, but the brand says the most requested shade ended up being matcha, which isn’t necessarily a surprise. As color theory moves from the realm of professional makeup artists to TikTok feeds, casual beauty enthusiasts feel comfortable reaching for green to counteract redness.

Nothing is mentioned formally. It contains the same ingredients that made Easy Bake a cult favorite in the first place. Rice starch to absorb excess oil, micronized pigments that can be made without clumping, and vitamin E for a little hydration.

Of course, it’s in the shade that things get interesting. On the packaging it looks mint green, classic color corrector territory, but it’s actually two in one. There is a gentle pink cherry blossom core inside the matcha milk on the outside, so when you push it into the puff, the two will mix together. That’s why you can use it even in non-reddish areas and it won’t stain green. The outer layer evens out your skin tone while the pink pigment brightens your skin.

When I first saw the powder on the package, I was a little scared that I would end up looking like Elphaba, right? absolutely. Color correction is usually one of the first steps after preparing your skin and before concealer, not the end of your routine. So even though it felt wrong to put a mint green product over a full face, I did it. (Partly out of curiosity and partly because I had enough time to redo my makeup if I really needed to. Spoiler: I didn’t.)

I always have a little redness peeking out between my eyebrows and around my nose when I apply concealer, so I was curious to see if this product would really help. To really test it out, I also applied a lot of blush and put it too close to my under eyes to see if the powder would tone it down. And it was successful. It was much more useful for me than traditional redness correction because it diffuses the pigment. If you have a tendency towards blush blindness, there is no need to judge. This works like insurance so you don’t have to redo the entire base.

It’s also easy to see why people are loyal to Easy Bake. After 6 hours, on my forehead, where oil usually prevails even when I try to mattify it, it did not flake off and the redness did not peek out again. Everything looked more even and bright, especially under my eyes. And everyone I talked to was genuinely shocked when I said I used a green powder to get there. This confirmed that I wasn’t actually turning green.

Huda Beauty’s Matcha Milk Powder is changing the concept of color correction. No layering, no weird undertones, no learning curve. It does the same thing that setting powders already do, but with more benefits. If you battle redness (or have ever gone a little overboard with it), the results speak for themselves. Even if you don’t, you’ll appreciate the formula itself because it’s pretty good.
